Is Online Education Right For Real Estate Agents?

It depends on the agent and their most effective learning style.  Some learners like being with people as they learn.  Others prefer to be alone, uninterrupted by other’s opinions and questions and the instructor’s personal experiences.

Real estate agents and managing brokers use online education for self improvement and convenience.  Students enjoy a change from classroom and may use online classes to complete their continuing education requirements.   Others use online classes, webinars and videos to build and manage their business more effectively.

Agents may take their Tennessee Real Estate Commission 4 hour Core Course online then complete the remaining requirements through classroom.  Many have taken the Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR) designation course in classroom, and then complete the required elective online.

Online course content is fun, self-paced and convenient.  You spend little time away from your business and there is no travel expense to get to class.   But nothing beats class and instructor interaction in some classes and for some students.

Should agents get all their education online?  Some of us do.  Online is many times the best available option for the information we want or need at that moment.  With good planning most agents have a choice to mix online and classroom to accomplish their goals.

National Association of REALTORS® Realtor University and Dearborn/RECampus both do a great job delivering the online learning experience to real estate agents.  Both are offered at RealEstateSuccessCenter.com .  At the link “Online CE Courses” you will find a list of online courses approved for CE in TN.  Caution:  Make sure the class you are considering is approved for CE in TN if you need continuing education credit to renew your real estate license.   Call your affiliate first to confirm before you register.  Notify the affiliate when you have registered just to be certain that the affiliate is notified of your need for CE.  Only approved course providers can submit you CE roster to TREC.

For all types of courses to help build your business, Realtor University has a fantastic catalog of NAR designation courses, business development courses and now Webinars and Videos archived for your convenience.

Important to know! To receive assistance, have questions answered by a real person or get help deciding whether online learning is right for you, it is necessary to register your email address and password through an affiliate school (Real Estate Success Center).  After you’ve decided on a particular online offering, you must purchase through a Realtor University affiliate to be guaranteed that your CE credits are properly submitted to TREC.  Realtor University is not a TREC approved course provider.  Only the affiliate school can submit TREC CE rosters.  We always want to avoid any problems where our continuing education credit is concerned.

Online learners prefer access to a live person for a variety of reasons.  Call or email first and let me help you become familiar with the websites and courses available to you.  Even if you are just thinking of registering for an online course, I’ll be happy to help.
